The Thorn Serpent – Free Adventure for D&D 5e

Welcome to the Dark Paths of Blackthorn!
I’ve created this level 1 adventure for Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition as an introductory session with elements of mystery, exploration, and unique creatures. It can be played in a single session or expanded over several, and it’s designed to be modular, quick to set up, and perfect for improvisation on the fly.

🧙 Pre-generated Characters

ncludes four ready-to-play characters, ideal for introducing new players or quickly launching a new campaign:

Thargrim Hammerfist – Veteran dwarf warrior, scarred and wielding a massive warhammer.
Nythra Shadowveil – Cunning and agile elf rogue, as swift as the shadows.
Elandor Whitemantle – Human wizard seeking arcane secrets among ruins and forgotten tomes.
Sir Alric of the Serene Light – Human paladin of noble blood, guided by a divine vision.

Each character comes with a backstory, Homebrewery-style combat sheet, and level 1 abilities.

🐲 Original Bestiary

I’ve created a small bestiary with enemies designed specifically for this setting:

Swamp Spinebeast – Small territorial beast with retractable spines.
Shadowhorn Fiend – Wild, camouflaged creature with poisonous horns.
Blackthorn Huntress – Ambushing amazon archer with entangling arrows.

All enemies are balanced and ready to use in combat for levels 1–2.on estadísticas equilibradas para niveles 1-2.

🗺 Ready-to-Use Maps

I’ve designed three maps using DungeonDraft that cover the key locations of the adventure:

Blackthorn Glade – The site of the first encounter and ambush.
Entrance to the Hollow Roots – An ancient tree hiding a secret passage.
Sanctuary of the Hollow Willow – The lair of the Malevolent Spirit and its web of deception.

Available in digital format, ready to use on platforms like Foundry VTT, Roll20, or for printing.

Into modeling? I’ve created several miniatures for this adventure and uploaded them to Cults 3D. You can download and print them in resin or filament to bring a physical touch to your game.
